Car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort leaves 8 dead

A strong explosion that ripped through a car parked close to the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday night, setting numerous other vehicles on fire, resulted in at least eight fatalities and multiple injuries, according to officials. The explosion, which happened close to Gate No. 1 of the Lal Quila Metro Station, was so powerful that it could be heard throughout the surrounding buildings and broke the windows of cars parked a few meters away.

Three or four automobiles caught fire as a result of the explosion, according to Delhi Fire Services. Police roped off the area and issued a high alert throughout the city as seven fire engines raced to the scene. The call was made around 7:05 PM, and according to the most recent information, seven fire tenders have been sent to the scene.

Entry and egress through Gates 1 and 4 at Lal Qila are regulated by Delhi Police. Nonetheless, Delhi Metro services are operating normally across the board. Following the explosion, Delhi’s authorities have issued a high alert. Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Kolkata have also been placed on high alert. Satish Golcha, the chief of Delhi Police, told reporters that he frequently updates Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the explosion.

“I was two feet away from the automobile in front of me. I’m not sure if it was a bomb or something else.” An automobile driver who was hurt in the explosion informed PTI that it was a Swift Dzire.

This occurs on the same day that a terror module including the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, spanning Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, was dismantled by Jammu and Kashmir police in collaboration with other agencies. Following the takedown of the terror cell in Faridabad, eight people—including three doctors—were taken into custody. Additionally, a property in Dhauj village that one of the doctors rented contained 360 kg of weapons and explosives.
