Carlo Ancelotti set to continue as Real Madrid head coach, extends contract until 2026

As per reports on Friday, Carlo Ancelotti’s contract with Real Madrid has been extended until June 2026. This would probably stop him from taking over as manager of Brazil’s national football team.

Fernando Diniz was appointed temporary manager by the Brazil Football Confederation before Ancelotti’s expected appointment as manager for the 2024 Copa America. The CBF’s then-president, Ednaldo Rodriguez, held months of negotiations with Ancelotti, who had previously said that the Real job would be his last in football.

However, it seemed like one of the most glamorous and difficult professions in football had caused a change of mind.

“Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti have reached an agreement on the extension of his contract till June 30, 2026,” Real Madrid said in a statement.

It was reported in July of this year that Ancelotti, 64, will become the first foreigner to coach Brazil in 60 years once his current Real Madrid contract expires next year.

However, it is believed that once Real Madrid heard of Ancelotti’s interest in joining Brazil, Los Blancos decided to reward him with an interesting offer to secure his services for the near future to come.
