Real Madrid is keen to bring James Rodriguez back to the Spanish club as Carlo Ancelotti has made the player a transfer target.
According to reliable reports from a Colombian website that is well connected with Colombian players and coaches, James Rodriguez might be set for a return back to Real Madrid. This comes at the request of newly appointed Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. The club’s president Florentino Perez is also willing to sign James for a second spell with the La Liga giants.
James signed for Real Madrid in July 2014 for approximately £63 million. James was a regular starter under Ancelotti in the Madrid squad but fell out of favour with Ancelotti’s successor Zinedine Zidane and eventually requested a loan transfer away from Spain. James reunited with Ancelotti at Bayern Munich on a 2-year loan deal. Ancelotti was eventually sacked by Bayern Munich.
James returned to Madrid in 2019 at the end of his loan deal with Bayern Munich, however, he made only 8 appearances in the 2019/20 La Liga season, as Real Madrid won the 2019–20 La Liga. James joined Premier League club, Everton, on a free transfer in September 2020 and signed a two-year deal. The deal once again reunited him with manager Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti however left his managerial job at Everton at the end the of 2020/21 Premier League season and joined Real Madrid for a second spell. Ancelotti is now keen on reuniting with James at Madrid with the club keen to bolster their attacking options by signing the Colombian playmaker.
In 23 appearances in the 2020/21 Premier League season, James scored 6 goals and recorded 5 assists for Everton.
