Carlos Alcaraz drops Wimbledon 2023 trophy on live TV during an Interview; Watch

It’s barely been 24 hours since Carlos Alcaraz won the most important match of his career on one of the biggest stages, accomplishing his childhood goal of winning Wimbledon. The excitement of defeating one of the greatest grass-court players, Novak Djokovic, in a five-set game that marked the end of a decade-long reign on Centre Court, is certain to last a long time. As a result, the major “whoops” moment that took place live on TV on Monday morning and then went viral on social media is only understandable.

The extraordinary achievement, which will undoubtedly stay with him for the rest of his career, has yet to sink in for the 20-year-old, who appeared nervous when questioned about his Wimbledon trophy during an interview with CNN. And in a bid, he dropped the trophy. He looked embarrassed before laughing nervously as he put the trophy back together.

Wimbledon’s Twitter account posted the video and penned, “Whoops, @carlosalcaraz #Wimbledon”

On Sunday, Alcazar became the second Spaniard to win two Grand Slams before the age of 21, following Rafael Nadal, who won the French Open in 2005 and 2006. Alcaraz will now travel to the US Open as the reigning champion, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the youngster. And Djokovic is already preparing for a fourth ATP match with Alcaraz, hoping to level the head-to-head tie to 2-2.
