Carlos Alcaraz receives Real Madrid jersey as a gift from fan at Wimbledon; Watch

Carlos Alcaraz, the world number one and top-seeded men’s player at Wimbledon, advanced to the semifinals of the renowned grass-court major on Wednesday with a straight-sets victory against Dane Holger Rune. The 20-year-old Spaniard defeated Rune of Denmark 7-6, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to a match against Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals.

After the game, when the Spaniard was signing autographs, a fan gave him a Real Madrid shirt, which the 20-year-old accepted gratefully as he shook the guy’s hand and thanked him for the gift.

Despite being born in El Palmar, around 250 kilometres from Madrid, the world number one is a big fan of Real Madrid.

Alcaraz will face Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals of the 2023 All England Championships as he attempts to reach his first Wimbledon final. In the last four matches of the gentlemen’s singles tournament at SW19, reigning champion and seven-time championship winner Novak Djokovic will face Italian Jannik Sinner.

Tunisian star Ons Jabeur, who avenged her 2022 final defeat with a remarkable quarterfinal win over holder Elena Rybakina, will face Aryna Sabalenka in the women’s singles semifinals, while unseeded Marketa Vondrousova will face Elina Svitolina, who defeated top-seeded women’s player Iga Swiatek in the event at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
