CBS has made a last-minute change to its primetime schedule, pushing back the premiere of the Hollywood Squares reboot. Originally slated to air on Thursday, January 9, the game show will now make its debut on January 16. The network decided to delay the show in light of the recent wildfires affecting Los Angeles, feeling that the lighthearted nature of Hollywood Squares would be out of place amid the ongoing coverage of the devastation in California.
As a result of the delay, CBS adjusted its programming lineup for January 9 to offer viewers some familiar content. The revised schedule is as follows:
- 8 pm: Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage (encore)
- 8:30 pm: Ghosts (encore)
- 9 pm: Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage (encore)
- 9:30 pm: Ghosts (encore)
- 10 pm: Matlock (encore)
This shift allows CBS to keep its programming consistent while audiences await the premiere of Hollywood Squares.
The reboot of Hollywood Squares, a classic game show that originally aired on NBC in 1966, will now premiere on January 16. The show pits two contestants against each other in a tic-tac-toe format, where celebrity guests occupy the board squares. Contestants must determine if the celebrities’ answers are correct in order to win cash and prizes.
After its premiere, Hollywood Squares will air on Wednesdays, starting January 29, as part of CBS’s Game Night lineup. The show will follow The Price Is Right at Night and Raid the Cage. Nate Burleson, co-host of CBS Mornings, will host the show, with Drew Barrymore taking the coveted center square.
