Centre asks Twitter to block 1,178 accounts with ‘Pakistani, Khalistani’ operators

The Center has asked Twitter to suspend more than 1,000 user accounts with respect to the farmers’ protest against the three combative farm laws.The accounts as allegedly spreading fake news and posting provocative substance

According to the government the 1,178 handles submitted to be suspended are operated by Pakistanis and Khalistanis, CNBC-TV18 reported refering to its sources in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Twitter is yet to give its consent to fulfil the request.

The government has also criticised Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for ‘liking’ multiple tweets by international celebrities voicing their support with regard to the farmers’ protest.

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has already sent a list of 257 Twitter handles and a list of tweets to be blocked for spreading misinformation.
