Charles Oliveira vs Justin Gaethje: who will get the upper hand?

Charles Oliveira vs Justin Gaethje: who will get the upper hand?

In December, at UFC 269 Charles Oliveira defeated the former interim UFC lightweight title holder Dustin Poirier and defended his undisputed title. The new fight announcement was just a matter of time, but it was unclear who would get the title fight next. Justin Gaethje won his last fight in November 2021 against Michael Chandler and publicly expressed his intentions to get the next title fight. There was also Russian Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s protégé who is on a nine-fight win streak. Conor Mcgregor is also worth mentioning. Even though he lost his two fights, the fame and ability to sell PPVs like nobody else might have secured him a title shot. But on 26 January of 2022, it was announced that Justin Gaethje would face Charles Oliveira for the lightweight ultimate gold.

It was announced that the fight would take place at ufc 274, so it means this event will have two very promising title fights. The UFC lightweight championship will be on the line on May 7. This is an opportunity for Indian fans to sign up on 22bet, which is a legal sportsbook in India, and place their bets.

UFC 274 was originally meant to take place in Brazil. But some circumstances changed the mind of Dana White and this event will be held in the United States.

Both of these fighters are considered very exciting, so fans will definitely enjoy this one. Charles Oliveira will look to defend his lightweight title for the second time. He became champion in may of 2021 when he knocked out Michael Chandler in the second round and won the vacant title after Khabib’s retirement. Then he submitted Poirier in the third round at UFC 269. Charles is a very dangerous fighter both on the feet and on the ground. His striking has vastly improved in recent years and his Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills are considered one of the best if not best in the organization. Oliveira also holds the record for the most submission wins in the organization.

His opponent Justin Gaethje is no joke either. His record is 23-3 and every fight is very exciting, that’s why fans love this guy. Justin Gaethje came into the organization in 2017, winning his debut fight. In 2020 he fought for the interim lightweight belt against Tony Ferguson and won via TKO in the fifth round. Then he fought Khabib Nurmagamedov to unify the titles but eventually fell short against The Eagle.

Justin is very good with his striking and has a one-punch knockout power, but his wrestling and grappling skills aren’t as elite. Anything can happen in this kind of a fight but Charles Oliveira definitely has the edge as he has more tools to win. He can compete with Justin on the feet and if it gets to the ground, Oliveira will most likely win quickly without any problem.

If you enjoy UFC and cannot wait for this title fight, there is a good option for you to sign up on 22Bet and make a bet on your favorite fighter.
