Chelsea are preparing documentation to request withdrawing from the European Super League amid fan protests on Monday evening.
Hundreds of Blues fans gathered outside Stamford Bridge on Monday evening to vent their disgust against the plans to introduce a breakaway competition.
Sporting director Petr Cech was pictured addressing the disgruntled fans who came in the masses with the club now set to abandon their plans to join the league, as first reported by Dan Roan.
They are the first club of the 12 teams who announced plans to form a European Super League to walk away from the proposed tournament.
Chelsea’s decision to quit the plans leaves Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur as the five English teams still involved with the breakaway tournament.v
