Cesar Azpilicueta, the captain of Chelsea, is in advanced talks to join Atletico Madrid. Multiple senior players have already left Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window, as Mauricio Pochettino takes charge of the team for the first time next week.
After the Blues agreed a deal with Atletico Madrid, Spanish defender Azpilicueta is expected to leave.
Despite signing a 2 year deal last summer, Chelsea is willing to sanction the move for a nominal fee or as a free transfer.
Azpilicueta’s agreement to stay 12 months came at a time when the west Londoners were short on central defenders and he also turned down a transfer to his homeland with Barcelona.
