Rohit Ramesh, the owner of Chennai city FC has proposed to AIFF that he is planning to register a new entity under the companies act to function as the state association. He is taking this step to protect and promote the interests of football in Tamil Nadu.
Rohit is also the president of Chennai football association (CFA) and in his letter to AIFF, he alleged that the Tamil Nadu football association (TFA) has failed to conduct competitions and put roadblocks towards the conduct of the CFA league which has not been held in three years. He also mentioned that it is compulsory to conduct competitions at state and district levels under Article 14(2)(k) in the Constitution of AIFF. TFA has neither conducted competitions on their own and nor does it allows districts including CFA to conduct such competitions. This is also violating the interests of Indian football and AIFF and violates Article 14(2) (O).
On the other hand, TFA has said that it has fulfilled all the obligations as far as holding state events in all categories in 2019-20 are concerned. The last event conducted was the state women’s league in March before COVID-19 struck and AIFF asked them to stop all the competitions.
