‘The Sabarmati Report, a film based on the tragic Godhra train burning incident of 2002, has been making headlines for its compelling content and positive reception. The movie’s popularity has grown significantly following praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and it has now been declared tax-free in Haryana after earlier announcements in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Reports indicate that Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, along with his cabinet ministers and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, attended a screening of the film on Tuesday. Producer Ektaa Kapoor was also present. The bravery of the actors and the impactful storytelling were commended by Saini during the event. He reportedly encouraged people to watch the film and drew comparisons to The Kashmir Files, calling The Sabarmati Report highly accurate in its portrayal of events.

The Godhra train tragedy, which occurred on February 27, 2002, involved the burning of the Sabarmati Express near Godhra station, leading to the deaths of 59 people, mostly karsevaks, and sparking violent riots across Gujarat.

The Prime Minister had previously tweeted in support of the film, remarking that it was significant for the truth to be revealed in a manner accessible to the public. It was stated that false narratives could only endure temporarily, as facts would eventually emerge. With its tax-free status in Haryana, the film is expected to reach a wider audience, continuing to spark conversations around its subject matter.
