China’s Bat woman breaks her silence over false allegations

Dr. Shi Zhengli, the top Chinese virologist, is once again at the center of confronting narratives about her research on COVID-19 at a state lab in Wuhan, its the first city from where the pandemic emerged.

In a outgoing growing strain of U.S. politicians and scientists, Dr. Shi is the key to the world if they will ever learn about the virus which is behind the disastrous COVID-19 pandemic which is alleged to be broken out from a Chinese lab, Wuhan city. But for  the Chinese government and public, she is a hero for the country’s success.

Dr.Shi in a disbelief has denied all these false accusations on her, i.e. conducting an experiment with bat’s for coronaviruses was not safe, and now she herself is guarding the reputation of her and her lab, and by extension of that of her country. Authorities tried to reach out on her cell phone two weeks ago, Dr.Shi said at first that she chose not to speak directly to reporters over phone, specifying her institute’s policies.

Dr. Shi denied to talk to reporters and later she sent in a text message which was, “How on earth can I offer up evidence for something where there is no evidence?” she said, her voice in anger and disbelief while briefing the unscheduled conversation.  She continued in a anger that “I don’t know how the world has come to this, constantly pouring dirt on an innocent scientist.”

Dr. David Relman said that, “This has nothing to do with fault or guilt.” Dr. Relman is a microbiologist at Stanford University and co-author of a recent letter in the journal Science, signed by 18 scientists, which called out for a transparent investigation into all feasible scenarios, which includes the lab leak situation. The letter prompt labs and health agencies to open their records in front of  public and authorities.

Dr. Shi, concluded by saying, “I’m sure that I did nothing wrong, so I have nothing to fear.”
