Chinese national nabbed by BSF near Bangla border while sneaking into India

A Chinese national was arrested in Malda by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday. During an illegal cross over through the India-Bangladesh border, the man was apprehended at Malik Sultanpur BOP by the Border Security Force troop stationed in South Bengal Frontier.

Being a resident of Hubei province in China, the man identified himself as Han Junwe (36) during an interrogation. The man stayed with a Chinese friend in Dhaka, Bangladesh when he arrived there on 2nd June on a business visa, as learnt by the BSF. Han put up at a hotel on 8th June at Sona Masjid, District-Chapainawabganj (Bangladesh). In an attempt to cross over into India on Thursday, he was nabbed.

As per the documents seized from Han’s possession, it is believed that he was working for the Chinese Intelligence Agency in India. Several intelligence agencies are believed to have been working together to interrogate Han as he is found to be a wanted criminal as mentioned in a statement issued by the Border Security Forces South Bengal Frontier.

It was found that Junwe had visited Hyderabad in 2010 along with Delhi and Gurugram thrice after 2019, during the interrogation. It is believed that he is operating a hotel named ‘Star Spring’ in Gurugram. As learnt, some of its staffers are from China while the rest are Indians.

A Bangladesh sim card, two iPhones, one Indian sim card, two Chinese sim cards, and Apple Laptop, three batteries, two pen drives, five money transaction devices, US dollars, Bangladeshi Taka, two small torchlights as well as Indian currency were forcibly seized by the BSF from his possession.
