Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey, has added Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, and Samantha Morton to its already star-studded cast. The Universal-backed project is set to be the most ambitious cinematic adaptation of Homer’s epic poem.
For Patel, Page, and Irwin, this marks a reunion with Nolan. Patel, known for Don’t Look Up, previously appeared in Tenet (2020). Page starred in Inception (2010), while Irwin, a Tony Award-winning actor, was in Interstellar (2014). Morton, a two-time Oscar nominee known for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is working with Nolan for the first time.
The Oppenheimer director is reworking Homer’s Odyssey to tell the story of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, as he faces trials and dangers on his journey home after the fall of Troy. According to the studio, the film is described as “a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand-new IMAX film technology.”
The new cast members join an already impressive lineup, which includes Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Benny Safdie, and Charlize Theron.
The film will explore classic themes of heroism, loyalty, and fate, featuring legendary moments such as Odysseus’ encounter with the Cyclops Polyphemus, the sirens’ song, and the witch-goddess Circe.
Shot with state-of-the-art IMAX technology, The Odyssey is set for a global release on July 17, 2026.
