Irish actor Colin Farrell and British actor Rachel Weisz, who were previously seen together in the 2015 movie The Lobster directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, will be teaming up once again, this time for a dark comedy feature movie titled Love Child, which will be helmed by American filmmaker and playwright Todd Solondz.
Love Child is touted to be a dark and hilarious twist on the classical story of Oedipus. The reboot story will be following a precocious kid who plans to get rid of his brutish dad in a desperate attempt to have his mom all to himself. But, things go in the wrong direction and the boy is flabbergasted when a handsome stranger appears, posing a threat to the boy and his relationship with his mother.
According to Solondz, who best known for the 1995 feature film Welcome to the Dollhouse, this will be his first movie with a plot, and his first movie which will be taking place in Texas. The director also stated that the movie will be fun and that it is shaped after the Hollywood movies which made him want to become a filmmaker. The director said that he has always admired actors Rachel and Colin’s work, and will be honored to excite both the actors’ passion for serious and unexpected work.
The movie, which will be directed by Todd Solondz, will be produced by Killer Films’ Christine Vachon, who had previously worked with the director on his movies Happiness and Weiner-Dog, alongside David Hinojosa of 2AM.
