Three months after crashing into a Beverly Hills house, Pete Davidson was charged with reckless driving.
On Friday, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office affirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the comedian had been booked with a single misdemeanour count. The Beverly Hills Police Department sent the case to the District Attorney around 2 months prior to the charge. Since March, the local police department has been investigating the crash.
The district attorney’s office said in a statement, “We believe that Mr. Davidson engaged in reckless driving, which ultimately resulted in his involvement in a serious collision into a home. Luckily, no one was seriously injured as a result of this collision. We know that reckless driving can have devastating consequences.”
The car accident happened on March 4. Davidson was reportedly driving at high speeds in a residential area in a Mercedes when the car jumped the curb. The accident allegedly involved the car knocking over a fire hydrant and clipping the corner of a house. Davidson and the other people in the residence were not hurt.
Davidson’s arraignment is set for late July.
In the meantime, Davidson was featured in the 8th season of Saturday Night Live, NBC’s long-running variety sketch show.
