Punjabi music sensation Karan Aujla, known for hits like Tauba Tauba and White Brown Black, faces controversy ahead of his debut eight-city India arena tour, It Was All A Dream. The highly anticipated tour, produced by Team Innovation and Live Nation, is set to kick off in Chandigarh on December 7, 2024, and conclude in early January 2025.
A complaint has been lodged against the singer by professor Panditrao Dharnevar, alleging that Aujla’s music promotes the glorification of alcohol, drugs, and violence. Songs such as Chitta Kurta, Adhia, Few Days, Alcohol 2, Gangsta, and Bandook have been singled out in the complaint. Dharnevar has demanded that Aujla refrain from performing these tracks during his live shows, warning that their content could negatively influence the audience.
Dharnevar has also threatened to file a defamation petition against senior police officials if Aujla performs the controversial songs. This is not the first time the professor has raised concerns about Punjabi music. Previously, he filed a similar complaint against Diljit Dosanjh, prompting a legal notice from the Telangana government restricting Dosanjh from performing songs promoting harmful themes.
Despite the controversy, Aujla’s fans are eagerly awaiting his tour, which will include performances in Bengaluru (December 13), New Delhi (December 15 and 18), and Mumbai (December 21). Known for blending heartfelt lyrics with contemporary beats, the Vancouver-based artist continues to dominate the Punjabi music scene.
