Hyderabad witnessed a political storm following the attack on actor Allu Arjun’s residence on Sunday evening. The incident, linked to the Sandhya Theatre stampede on December 4 during the premiere of Pushpa 2, which claimed a woman’s life, has sparked allegations and counterclaims.
Unverified social media posts alleged a connection between the main accused in the attack and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The Congress, however, dismissed these claims on Monday. Congress spokesperson Sama Ram Mohan Reddy told NDTV, “None of them belong to Congress. If they find any Congress link, those workers will stand disqualified.”
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also condemned the attack, emphasizing law and order measures. In a statement on X, he said, “I condemn the attack on the homes of film celebrities. I am directing the State DGP and City Police Commissioner to take strict action regarding law and order. No laxity will be tolerated in this regard.” He further urged senior officials to ensure the police focus only on the Sandhya Theatre incident.
Meanwhile, six suspects accused of vandalizing Allu Arjun’s residence were granted bail on Monday after being produced in a Hyderabad court.
The incident has not only raised questions about public safety but also highlighted the potential misuse of social media in spreading unverified allegations. Authorities continue to investigate the matter.
