Cops use water cannons against Congress farmer supporters in MP

Madhya Pradesh Police used water cannons to disperse Congress workers, who were taking out a march from Jawahar Chowk to Raj Bhavan in Bhopal. This was done to thwart a group of agitated Congressmen who were in support of the farmers.

On November 26, hundreds of farmers marched towards the national capital in protest against three new agriculture laws. Since then, farmers and opposition from not just Haryana or Punjab but also from Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Karnataka have joined the protestors.

11 rounds of talks between the Centre and farmers’ unions have ended in stalemates, with farmers demanding a complete repeal of the laws and the government refusing to entertain that possibility.

The situation is vexed at present that there is no clarity on if and when the next round of talks will be held. The distressed farmers are planning a tractor march on Republic day.
