COVID-19: ‘I was right all along’, says Trump amid suspicions over origin of coronavirus

“The correspondence between Dr Fauci and China speaks too loudly for anyone to ignore,” the ex-president added

Former president of the United States, Donald Trump said that he was right when he, during his presidency,  had claimed that the coronavirus came from the Wuhan lab in China. In his remarks over the latest controversy on Thursday, he also called for China to pay $10 trillion to the United States and the world as damages for the death and destruction caused by the pandemic.

The theory of coronavirus being a man-made virus originating from the Wuhan lab has been going around since the start of the pandemic in January 2020. Initially, the possibility had been dismissed by medical experts as “extremely unlikely.” However, some recent reports and revelations of Covid like illness found in Wuhan before the official announcement of the virus have again aroused suspicions and sparked a debate among experts and common people alike.

In the backdrop of these suspicions, Donald Trump on Thursday said he was right all along when he talked about “China virus(Covid-19) coming from Wuhan lab”. He also attacked infectious disease expert and top advisor to the US government, Dr. Anthony Fauci. “The correspondence between Dr. Fauci and China speaks too loudly for anyone to ignore.”

It may be recalled that a few days back the American press had reported on Fauci’s private mails which gave information about the early days of Covid-19 in the US including the theory of a lab leak being the cause of the pandemic. When asked for his reaction, Dr. Fauci called the lab leak theory “a bit far out.”

“I think(it) is quite far fetched that the Chinese deliberately engineered something so that they could kill themselves as well as other people,” he added.

Meanwhile, in his statement, Trump also wanted the world to impose a fine on China for the alleged lab leak.” China should pay $10 trillion to America, and the world, for the death and destruction they have caused!” he said.
