Dana Carvey discusses the possibility of a Wayne’s World 3 movie

Dana Carvey, who portrayed Garth in the original trilogy, discusses the possibility of a third Wayne’s World movie starring Mike Myers. Wayne’s World, a 1992 film based on a well-known Saturday Night Live skit, follows slackers Wayne (Myers) and Garth (Carvey) as they try to advertise their public-access cable program. The franchise has been inactive ever since a sequel was released in 1993. Recently, Carvey discussed the possibility of Wayne’s World 3 in a recent interview with People. The actor is excited about the prospect of working with Myers again for a third movie, although it doesn’t seem like anything is official just yet.

Will Wayne World 3 happen?

Around $183 million was made at the box office, and the reviewers largely gave the first Wayne’s World movie positive reviews. Nevertheless, there was less of a reaction when the sequel was made public. There are almost no plans for Wayne’s World 3 as the reviews weren’t as favorable and the box office performance dropped dramatically. Not to mention the fact that Myers’ career truly blossomed with other roles and successful ventures like the Austin Powers franchise.

Will it be too late for Wayne World 3?

Given the aging of Myers and Carvey, the radically altered comedy film industry, and their advancing ages, it is doubtful that Wayne’s World 3 will be able to match the magic of the first film. In spite of this, Myers and Carvey have played their characters once or twice more during the past ten years to generally good reactions from viewers, most recently in 2021 for a Super Bowl commercial. Moreover, Carvey recently made a mysterious Instagram post on Wayne’s World, and the comment area had several requests for a third film.

Is there still time? There seems to be interest in the two actors returning as Wayne and Garth in yet another Wayne’s World adventure, even if it is questionable whether a third film would be any good. Also, Bill & Ted Face the Music’s box office success in 2020 shows that it’s never too late to bring back a decades-old comedic brand. Though it’s unclear whether Wayne’s World 3 will ever truly be made, Carvey’s most recent remark shows that he’s receptive to the notion.
