The Knives Out franchise is making its return with a highly anticipated third installment, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, set to premiere on Netflix in fall 2025. Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the sharp-witted detective Benoit Blanc, with director Rian Johnson once again at the helm, promising another thrilling murder mystery packed with a stellar cast and unexpected twists.
Following the massive success of the 2019 original and its 2022 sequel, Glass Onion, Netflix made a huge investment in the franchise, striking a $469 million deal with Johnson and his producing partner, Ram Bergman, for two sequels. Johnson, speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, shared that even while making the first movie, he had envisioned creating multiple films, much like Agatha Christie’s mystery novels, each featuring a fresh setting, a new ensemble of characters, and a unique case for Blanc to solve.
While the exact plot remains under wraps, Netflix has teased that this time, Blanc will face his “most dangerous case yet” in an all-new location, surrounded by an entirely different set of suspects. A teaser video featuring Craig’s voice hints at rising stakes, reflecting on the events of the previous films before setting up an intriguing new mystery.
The film boasts an impressive lineup of talent, including Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Josh O’Connor, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, and Daryl McCormack. Notably, this marks Renner’s first acting role since his severe snowplow accident, making his return to the screen highly anticipated.
With its signature mix of suspense, dark humor, and a mind-bending whodunit, Wake Up Dead Man is shaping up to be another exciting addition to the Knives Out series. Fans can mark their calendars for its Netflix release in fall 2025.
