On its first Tuesday, De De Pyaar De 2 hopes to earn Rs. 4.50 crore, a 20% increase over Monday. It began its run at the box office at Rs. 8.25 crore and completed the weekend at Rs. 33 crore.
At the Indian box office, De De Pyaar De 2’s running total is currently Rs. 41.25 crore net. The plot of the sequel is somewhat similar to that of the original movie. In a perfect world, though, it would have shown a greater trajectory given the inflation over the previous six years and the sequel factor. But box office health has also declined significantly, particularly for the genre.
To earn a successful tag, the Ajay Devgn movie needs to keep up a strong hold. It is hoped that the movie will continue to make as much money during the week without experiencing a significant drop on Wednesday and Thursday. That will provide it a starting point for the second weekend and a chance to reach a relatively reasonable final total.
That won’t be enough to make it a smash, but a movie that doesn’t fail at the box office right now feels like a win. The Ajay Devgn film is expected to finish its initial week at Rs. 45 crore based on current trends. It may continue to gain popularity because there isn’t a big release till Dhurandhar.
