Delhi blast accused Shaheen Shahid tried to recruit women for mission, reveals probe

According to Faridabad police sources, Dr. Shaheen Shahid, who was detained in the “white-collar terror module” case connected to the November 10 Delhi explosion, disclosed that she had intended to enlist women to carry out the terrorist act. Shahid, a former pharmacologist at Al-Falah University, was brought to the university campus on Thursday by the National Investigation Agency in connection with the investigation, they said, and she disclosed under questioning that she had intended to recruit women for the mission.

According to police sources, the NIA investigators found ₹18.5 lakh in cash, some gold biscuits, and foreign currency in Shahid’s university dorm room. The agency brought Dr. Muzammil for identification earlier this week, and the NIA may shortly bring Dr. Adil Ahmad to the institution for spot identification. Two further individuals detained as part of the investigation are Muzammil and Adil Ahmad.

Shahid had also spent four years living in Saudi Arabia, according to sources. From 2014 to 2018, she was a professor at a Saudi Arabian medical college. Shahid was questioned on-site at the college, and the NIA team visited her cabin, classroom, and medical ward to learn more about her contacts and activities.

A senior police officer stated on Saturday that a list of the individuals she interacted with has been produced by the agency. Additionally, the NIA team brought her to a chemical store where Dr. Muzammil allegedly bought supplies to make explosives, according to sources.

She was returned to Delhi at approximately 9:00 p.m. following a four-hour investigation, interrogation, and location identification. According to the top police officer, the current investigation has shown that Shahid was involved in terrorist activities while attending Al-Falah University and was building a network by bringing people together.
