Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal decided not to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED), describing the notice as illegal. Instead, Kejriwal responded in writing to the ED, stating his willingness to cooperate but raising concerns about the alleged intention behind the notice.
“Ready to cooperate in ED investigation but the agency’s notice is illegal. Their intention is to arrest Arvind Kejriwal. They want to stop him from election campaign,” ANI quoted an AAP official as saying.
On January 3, the ED summoned Kejriwal for questioning in connection with an excise policy-related money laundering case. This is Kejriwal’s third refusal to appear before the federal authorities. The previous summonses were issued on November 2nd and December 21st.
AAP chief national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar earlier on Tuesday said that the party will respond to the ED’s summons to Kejriwal under the law.
During a news conference, Kakkar was asked whether Kejriwal would appear before the ED for questioning. “Our legal team will be better equipped to answer this question. We will act as per the law,” she said.
