On December 25, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will run TS#01, the “first-ever train” of the Delhi Metro network, as a special commemorative service to commemorate the anniversary of the start of Delhi Metro operations in 2002. The historic train will depart from Shahdara to Tis Hazari on Thursday at 10 a.m., according to DMRC. For the event, the train will be beautifully decked.
According to DMRC, travellers can take advantage of this unique service if they want to relive the momentous occasion of the Delhi Metro’s debut. The DMRC invited passengers and metro aficionados to join in the centennial celebration in a post on its official X handle. Due to the Christmas Day celebrations at major retail destinations, such as Select Citywalk Mall, DLF Avenue Mall, and MGF Metropolitan Court Mall, the Delhi Traffic Police (DTP) has created special traffic arrangements in the Saket district of the south portion of the city.
Every year, thousands of people flock to the three malls to see the elaborate decorations and other festive activities. According to the advise, vehicular travel on important roads near Saket will be restricted, with traffic police officers stationed at significant intersections to reduce congestion and ensure public safety.
The Delhi Traffic Police has encouraged motorists to plan their journeys ahead of time, avoid the impacted areas during peak hours, and carefully adhere to traffic laws and on-the-ground orders provided by traffic staff. Commuters are also encouraged to stay up to date on real-time traffic information via the Delhi Traffic Police’s official channels.
