The special cell of Delhi Police arrested a 30-year-old car AC mechanic named Maninder Singh claiming he played a role in the Republic Day protests at Red Fort, Delhi, according to a Hindustan Times (HT) report.
He was arrested near a bus stop in Pitampura, north-west Delhi. Two swords were also recovered from him. The deputy commissioner of the special cell told HT that they identified him through a video where he was swinging swords at Red Fort. The protests on Republic Day ended up injuring many police personnel because the farmers strayed from the main route and decided to go to Red Fort.
The deputy commissioner also told HT that Singh regularly visited the protest site at Singhu Border. The commissioner claims he was influenced by the speeches there. He also claims that Singh brought along with him six of his friends at Red Fort.
