Delhi Police files FIR against Greta Thunberg for tweet on farmers’ protest

The Delhi Police has filed FIR against climate activist Greta Thunberg over her tweet on farmer’s protests in India. She has charges of sedition, an overseas “conspiracy” and an attempt to “promote enmity between groups” against her.

On February 2, she wrote on her Twitter handle that, “We stand in solidarity with #FarmersProtest in India.” Her tweet about the ‘toolkit’ for supporting Indian farmers, named as a conspiracy against the Indian government was cited in the FIR.

“Taking cognizance of the toolkit, the police has registered a case for spreading disaffection against the government of India (sedition) and disharmony between groups on religious, social, and cultural grounds, and criminal conspiracy to give shape to this,” said Praveer Ranjan, Special Commissioner of Police.

After the FIR was filed she tweeted “I still #StandWithFarmers.”
