Demand for Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda’s arrest gains momentum as #ArresteRandeepHooda trends nationally

While it is unclear when the video was shot, netizens seem quite furious at Randeep Hooda’s problematic joke. Many also suggested that the actor should apologize for it.

Actor Randeep Hooda is the latest to receive backlash in the growing social media storm since Wednesday over a nine-year video in which he’s seen making derogatory comments against Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati.

One of the Twitter users shared a 43 seconds’ clip featuring Randeep. The clip is several years old, but the exact date isn’t confirmed.

In the viral video, the actor seems to be using the name Mayawati. ‘Mayawati’, a woman Dalit leader’s name, being used in such a disrespectful way has infuriated the social media users. The actor began by saying, “I think I will tell a very dirty joke.” The audience laughed and cheered after the actor finished the joke. The Twitterati used #ArrestRandeepHooda and lashed out at him for the same.

The Twitter user, who posted this, wrote, “if this does not explain how casteist and sexist this society is, especially towards Dalit women, I don’t know what will. the “joke”, the audacity, the crowd. Randeep Hooda, a top Bollywood actor talking about a Dalit woman, who has been the voice of the oppressed.”

Earlier, many Indian stand-up comedians and digital influencers were called out on social media for making casteist and sexist jokes or tweets in the past.

On the work front, the actor was last seen in Salman Khan starter ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’.
