On September 27, 2024, Devara: Part 1, which starred Jr. NTR in the lead role, was released in theatres. The makers of the movie formally revealed Devara 2, its sequel, on the occasion of its one anniversary. The producers used their social media accounts to formally promote Devara 2.
For those who are not familiar, Devara: Part 1 tells the tale of a village chieftain named Devara and stars Jr. NTR in the major role. He earns a living, like his peers, by smuggling things to powerful clientele from the middle of the sea. Devara, however, rebels against the practice and starts looking for those responsible once a tragic event shows that the items being smuggled are actually weapons.
The man vanishes after being betrayed by his own team, leaving a terrifying warning that threatens to apprehend anyone who smuggles again. Years later, Devara is feared by his peers, and his son Vara (played by Jr. NTR) is bitter about his father for leaving him and his family.
A cliffhanger at the end of the film set the stage for a future sequel. Together with Jr. NTR, the film’s ensemble cast featured important roles from Shine Tom Chacko, Kalaiyarasan, Jahnvi Kapoor (in her Telugu debut), Saif Ali Khan, Narain, and many others.
Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR most recently appeared together in the spy action movie War 2. The sixth film in the YRF Spy Universe and a follow-up to War (2019), it was directed by Ayan Mukerji. The actor is now focussing on his upcoming project, Dragon (NTRNeel), which is being directed by Prashanth Neel. Although more information regarding the movie has not yet been made public, it is thought that Rukmini Vasanth and Tovino Thomas have been cast in important parts.
