Dhanashree Verma says parents gave her strength after divorce from Yuzvendra Chahal

Dhanashree Verma has candidly spoken about her personal journey following her separation from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. In a recent conversation with Humans of Bombay, the choreographer and social media personality revealed how her parents stood by her side during one of the most difficult phases of her life.

She admitted that the initial days were confusing not just for her but also for her parents, who found it tough to cope with questions from relatives and society. While Dhanashree managed to ignore negativity, her parents struggled with the pressure. “There were days when my mother would actually give up and feel sad, and there were times when my parents kept their phones away. I had to strictly tell them, don’t use your phones, stop answering calls,” she shared.

Dhanashree added that her parents constantly reminded her that choosing to walk away from a relationship requires courage. “To even come to that decision of leaving that partnership requires a lot of courage, and my parents remind me of that every day. They kept telling me how proud they are that I made this decision. It’s not easy,” she revealed.

Dhanashree and Chahal, who first met during the Covid-19 pandemic through online dance lessons, married in December 2020. They filed for divorce by mutual consent in February 2025 and officially parted ways in March this year.
