Actor Dhanush, who won hearts as Kundan in the 2013 hit Raanjhanaa, has taken a nostalgic trip back to Varanasi while promoting his upcoming film Tere Ishq Mein. The visit marks a special moment for the star, as the city continues to associate him with the character that helped cement his place in Hindi cinema.
In a new Instagram post, Dhanush shared glimpses from his walk through Varanasi.
The photos show him strolling through the ghats, sipping tea at a familiar shop, and revisiting narrow streets alongside director Aanand L Rai, with whom he is collaborating for the third time. Their partnership began with Raanjhanaa, which became a major success and earned Dhanush widespread praise.
Along with the pictures, Dhanush penned a heartfelt note: “A walk through the memory lane… where it all started. KUNDAN. A character that refuses to let go of me, even after more than a decade.” He added that locals still call out “Kundan” when they see him, a gesture that continues to make him smile.
Calling the experience “a full circle moment,” the actor reflected on sitting outside the same house and visiting the same tea shop he frequented while shooting the film. He also hinted at his new character, writing, “Now it’s time for Shankar. Tere Ishq Mein… FROM TOM.”
Tere Ishq Mein, co-starring Kriti Sanon, releases in theatres on November 28. The film is backed by Aanand L Rai, Himanshu Sharma, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar, with music by AR Rahman.
