Dhanush’s idli struggle story sparks debate after Idli Kadai audio launch

Dhanush’s emotional childhood story about selling flowers to afford idlis at the Idli Kadai audio launch has left the internet divided, with many questioning the truth behind his claims.

At the audio launch of his upcoming film Idli Kadai in Chennai on Sunday evening, Dhanush shared an emotional memory from his childhood. The actor-director revealed that he used to crave idlis every day but couldn’t afford them.

According to him, he and his siblings collected flowers in the morning, sold them, and used the money to buy a plate of idlis. He said that nothing compared to the joy of eating food bought with their hard-earned money.

The actor even added that he named his new film Idli Kadai because of those childhood memories. He recalled that the few rupees earned from selling flowers would fetch four to five idlis, and the taste of those meals still remained unmatched compared to what he can now afford in restaurants.

However, his story soon turned into a subject of online debate. Many X users doubted whether Dhanush, being the son of director Kasthuri Raja, actually faced such struggles. One user remarked that by the time he was eight, his father had already directed several films, while another commented that it was hard to believe he couldn’t afford a plate of idlis.

Several also claimed that his statements sounded like exaggeration rather than reality. Despite the criticism, Dhanush’s words have sparked conversations online, making Idli Kadai trend even before its release.
