Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar has taken an unexpected turn across the border. Though the film was banned in Pakistan during its theatrical release, it is now being sold openly in local markets after becoming accessible through Netflix.
The development came to light after New Zealand based YouTuber Karl Rock shared a video from Karachi’s Rainbow Centre. In the clip, he is seen walking through the crowded market when he spots pirated copies of director Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller displayed at a shop. The vendor confirms on camera that it is the newest film and readily offers it for sale.
Karl reacts with surprise as he points to Ranveer Singh’s poster on a screen. “Indian films are banned in Pakistan, but look what I found,” he says in the video. When he asks about the price, the shopkeeper quotes PKR 50, which is approximately ₹16. “Bahut sasta,” Karl responds.
He also briefly mentions Ranveer Singh’s Sindhi roots, saying that the actor’s grandparents were believed to be from Karachi before moving to India during Partition.Dhurandhar, which also faced restrictions in several Gulf countries, appears to have found a new audience through digital streaming and now through piracy. The video has sparked fresh conversation around film bans and copyright concerns.
