Dick Advocaat bids an emotional farewell to football as the former Rangers manager fights back tears

Dick Advocaat, obviously moved, signed out with a victory in his final football match, leading Feyenoord into Europe. The Dutchman had a long and successful career, most notably with Rangers from 1998 until 2001.

Advocaat brought players like Michael Mols and Ronald de Boer to Ibrox, winning the domestic treble in his first season and the SPL and Scottish Cup double the following year. He managed the Rangers for about 200 games in all and is still well-liked by supporters.

Advocaat took command of his farewell game as a manager on Sunday, when Feyenoord defeated Utrecht 2-0. That win was enough to get the Eredivisie club into the Europa League for the next season, and it was clearly an emotional day for the 71-year-old.

Advocaat was spotted fighting back tears both during and after the contest when his emotions surfaced. The veteran has also coached the Netherlands national team three times, as well as stints with Zenit St Petersburg, Fenerbahce, and Sunderland.
He has a long history in club and international management, having held positions in Serbia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and Russia.
