Without David Bowie and Mick Jagger, the music industry would simply not exist. The music of both rock/pop rock giants has influenced generations over many decades. Jagger, with The Rolling Stones and Bowie, through his multiple personas, both managed to transcend their genres and influence millions of people’s dress choices. Jagger and Bowie, like Harry Styles, exemplified the androgynous style. But that wasn’t the only thing they shared in common.
Mick Jagger and David Bowie were well-known for their friendship. As a result of their connection, several rumours surfaced. Mainly that their relationship became romantic and/or sexual. So here’s everything you need to know about their relationship.
Did Mick Jagger and David Bowie have an Affair?
According to The Mirror, UK, the rumour of Mick Jagger and David Bowie’s bisexual love affair has been a topic of discussion among rock music fans for decades. Jagger and Bowie had a close relationship, according to Rolling Stones historian and author of “Mick: The Wild Life and Mad Genius of Jagger” Christopher Andersen.
“Bowie and Jagger were soon spotted everywhere together without their wives: sitting ringside at the Muhammad Ali-Ken Norton bout, hanging out at the London disco Tramp, yelling and stomping their approval at a Diana Ross concert, or just cuddling up together on a hotel room couch,” Andersen stated, as per The Sydney Morning Herald.
After Bowie’s sudden death in 2016, his former bodyguard Stuart George said he blocked access to a closet where Bowie, Jagger and an unidentified renowned female singer were engaged in a threesome.
This behaviour would not be uncommon for Jagger or Bowie, who both had a track record for their sexual conquests. Russian ballet star Rudolf Nureyev corroborated the story, however, neither party has affirmed it. Also, Ava Cherry, Bowie’s backup singer, had reportedly claimed to be the third in not just that threesome but many.
“Even though I was in bed with them many times, I ended up just watching them have sex,” Ava Cherry told Andersen in his book.
Another of their alleged partners, Playboy model Bebe Buell, admitted to having sexual encounters with both men at the same time.
“I used to get some pretty strange phone calls from Mick and David at three in the morning. Inviting me to join them in bed with four gorgeous black women – or four gorgeous black men,” Buell said to Andersen for his book.
