Dil-Luminati Tour: Maharashtra excise department cancels liquor permit

According to an official, the Maharashtra excise department on Sunday revoked the permit for pouring alcohol at actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati event in Pune’s Kothrud neighbourhood later in the evening.

After opposition to plans to offer alcohol at the event came from a variety of sources, including Chandrakant Patil, the recently elected BJP MLA for Kothrud, the department revoked the permit. “The state excise department has cancelled the permission to serve liquor during the program,” stated C Rajput, the commissioner of state excises.

MLA Patil objected to the concert that was planned for later that evening at Kothrud’s Kakade Farm. In a statement, the BJP leader claimed that such performances were not typical of the city. The local population will be greatly disturbed by this. Traffic delays will also result from the event. I have thus pleaded with the city police commissioner to call off the program.

Diljit Dosanjh, a Punjabi music sensation, claims that if all of the nation’s “thekas” (alcohol stores) close, he will cease performing songs with alcohol themes. The singer-actor reacted to the warning that was provided to him prior to his Hyderabad event, telling him to stay away from songs about violence, drugs, and alcohol, during his performance in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Following a notice from the Telangana government prior to his “Dil-Luminati India Tour 2024 Tour” performance in Hyderabad on Saturday, Diljit changed the lyrics of his hit songs “Lemonade” and “5 Taara,” which originally use the words “daaru” (alcohol) and “theka” (liquor store). The artist claimed to be a teetotaller and was even prepared to swear not to write such songs, but he suggested that each state’s government declare itself to be dry.

“Let’s take action and launch a movement. I’ll cease performing songs about booze the very next day if every state declares itself to be dry. You shut the ‘thekas’ out of the country, and I’ll stop singing about drinking. I make a commitment. “Is this feasible? It’s a significant source of income.

Except for the thekas, everything was closed during the corona (pandemic). He is heard stating, “You can’t fool the youth,” in a video posted on Diljit’s official Instagram page. In addition, the 40-year-old warned his doubters, “Don’t mess with me.”
