The couple, writer-director Greta Gerwig and writer-husband Noah Baumbach, have quietly welcomed their second son.
An Elle UK interview of the Little Women director and writer revealed the birth of the newest member of the couple’s family. The Hollywood Reporter claims that in addition to the newborn, the couple also has a four-year-old son named Harold, and Baumbach also has a 13-year-old son named Rohmer from a previous marriage.
In the Elle UK interview, Gerwig talked about her personal adventures as well as her professional and creative obstacles. She initially talked about her new child in the context of reflecting on where she is in her life right now. She admitted to the magazine, “I’m about to turn 40.” There’s something about that that makes you think, Oh! I’ve reached true middle age. Life in general feels really engaged.
She gushed about her child, describing him as “a little Schmoo. His energy is pretty much like that. He is a bright little infant. The young child is sleeping all night long. However, I still wake up every hour to 90 minutes and continue to hover. You can’t help but want to gaze upon that infant.
Gerwig and Baumbach have generally kept their second son’s birth private, so the interview with the magazine is the first time they have talked about it.
