Disney unveiled the first pictures of the upcoming psychologically thrilling series, The Stolen Girl

Denise Gough is set to star in the upcoming Disney+ series The Stolen Girl, playing the role of a determined mother who embarks on a harrowing quest to find her daughter after she mysteriously disappears. The show, which was originally titled Playdate, is based on the best-selling novel by Alex Dahl. The streaming platform has recently released the first images of the Irish actress alongside Amika Mod and Holliday Grainger.

In this gripping five-part series, Gough portrays Elisa, a mother who is thrown into a desperate search after her daughter, Lucia, vanishes from what seemed like a harmless sleepover. Things take a chilling turn when Elisa learns that not only her daughter has gone missing, but the host of the sleepover, Rebecca, and her daughter, Josie, also disappeared the same night. The family’s home is left eerily empty with no clues to explain their disappearance.

As the case moves into the hands of European authorities, Elisa and her husband, Fred, come under intense scrutiny. As the investigation deepens, the couple’s hidden family secrets start to unravel, adding more tension to an already complicated situation. Elisa soon learns that Rebecca’s actions were deliberate—Rebecca took Lucia for a reason.

The official synopsis of the show gives more insight: “The next day, when Elisa goes to pick up Lucia, she discovers that the beautiful house was a holiday rental. Lucia is missing. Rebecca and Josie have vanished. What started out as her daughter’s first sleepover has turned into an abduction.” The synopsis continues, “As an urgent manhunt unfolds across Europe, Elisa and her husband Fred find themselves the object of police and public scrutiny. Elisa’s perfect family begins to unravel under the pressure, and long-buried secrets come to light. Rebecca took Lucia for a reason.”

More details about the cast and the exact release date will be revealed soon, so fans can stay tuned for more updates.
