Lenny Kravitz, 60, may be the rockstar legend adored by millions, but when it comes to his daughter Zoë Kravitz, he’s just “Dad”—and according to him, an “embarrassment.” In a recent interview with People, Lenny shared that Zoë has never thought he was “cool,” acknowledging that kids rarely see their parents in that light. Despite his rockstar persona and achievements, Zoë, who is now a multi-talented actress, singer, and director, sees him for who he really is: her dad. “They see everything,” Lenny added, noting that Zoë will always find reasons to laugh at his expense.
When Zoë spoke at her dad’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in March 2024, she gave him a heartfelt tribute, noting how they’ve “grown up together” and how much she’s admired his dedication to both his art and the people he loves. But, of course, Zoë couldn’t resist poking fun at Lenny’s signature style, especially his penchant for daring fashion choices. “Since you were so young when I was born, in many ways, we’ve grown up together,” she said. “I’ve seen your incredible dedication to your art. But mostly, I’ve seen through your shirts. According to my dad, if it doesn’t expose your nipples, it’s not a shirt.” She even joked that his “relationship with the netted shirt is probably your longest one.”
Lenny took the teasing in stride, telling The Tonight Show’s Jimmy Fallon that his daughter’s playful jab was “quite appropriate.” Reflecting on Zoë’s speech months later, Lenny laughed, embracing the humor and even admitting he loves that his daughter sees him as “a bit of an embarrassment at times.”
Lenny’s upcoming Las Vegas residency, Blue Electric Light Las Vegas at Park MGM, is set for August, where he’ll undoubtedly continue to rock the stage—shirtless or not!
