Drug firm Lupin launches its Digital Asthma Educator platform

On June 7, 2021, Mumbai-based Drug firm Lupin announced the launch of its Digital Asthma Educator Platform. The prime objective of the platform is to guide asthma patients on the correct method of using inhalers, as mentioned in the regulatory filing.

As per estimates, says Lupin, India has around 35 million people suffering from asthma, including children. The new digital platform is the most recent initiative under its long-running umbrella scheme, Joint Airways Initiative (JAI), for patients suffering from respiratory illnesses. Despite the fact that there is no cure of asthma, “it is manageable with proper treatment, vigilance, drug adherence and regular medical checks, thus enabling patients to lead a normal life,” the company revealed.

The President of Lupin’s India Region Formulations, Rajeev Sibal has said that, “We believe this platform would assist healthcare professionals in significantly helping their patients understand correct inhalation technique and better manage their ailment.” He added that as per studies, nearly 90 percent of patients don’t use their inhalers correctly. The result of not being able to use the inhalers in the right manner can end up having multiple implications on the patients. For instance, uncontrolled symptoms, a higher rate of asthma attacks and even flare-ups.”

Furthermore, Lupin will undertake a pan-India integrated marketing campaign including social media and radio channels. The company will approach leading healthcare professionals to launch the JAI. It aims to the patients through this platform.

According to PharmaBiz, to create awareness on the necessity of using the correct inhalation technique, radio bytes from 50+ healthcare professionals will be broadcast across India on 93.5 FM.
