As far as the media reports are concerned, authorities in Dubai have eased the travel restrictions for its residents from certain countries including India. To be eligible, the traveler is required to have received two doses of vaccine that are approved by UAE.
The Gulf News reported that the Supreme Committee of crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai led by Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum declared updates to Dubai’s travel protocols for inbound passengers from South Africa, Nigeria, and India. These travel protocol will come into force from June 23.
The report added that to travel from India, the passenger need to posses a valid residence visa and should have received two doses of UAE approved vaccine. The UAE approved vaccines are namely, Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sputnik V, and Oxford-AstraZeneca.
With the above protocols, passengers from India will also require to go through a rapid PCR test four hours before their departure to Dubai. On their arrival, they need to undergo institutional quarantine till they receive their PCR test result, which arrives within 24 hours of the test.
On the other hand, non-residence passengers from South Africa and Nigeria are also permitted to travel depending on the grounds of vaccinations and PCR test conditions. The report added that a negative test certificate from a PCR test taken 48 hours prior to the departure is required.
The report further clarified that UAE nationals are spared from this requirements. They will only require QR-coded negative PCR test certificates.
Due to the massive outbreak of the second wave of pandemic in India that led to a rapid rise in the number of COVID 19 cases, the UAE closed its border for the travelers from India in late April.
