Ahead of Diwali, on October 17, Keerthiswaran’s Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju film Dude was released in theatres to a mixed reception. Nevertheless, the movie has managed to hold its own at the box office, earning over ₹55 crore in its first week of release.
Dude made an estimated ₹1.48 crore net in India on Thursday, bringing its total domestic collection to ₹55.78 crore, according to the trade website Sacnilk. The movie made ₹10.4 crore and ₹10.6 crore over the weekend after opening at ₹9.75 crore last Friday. With ₹10.8 crore, the movie did well on Diwali as well.
It earned ₹8.75 crore on Tuesday, which was an expected decline, and barely ₹4 crore on Wednesday. It is unclear how the movie will hold up as the weekend approaches once more. In just six days, the film’s global box office total surpassed 100 crore.
Ilaiyaraaja filed a complaint with the Madras High Court on Wednesday, claiming that two of his compositions had been used in Dude without his consent. A single bench was considering Ilayaraaja’s appeal against three music corporations, including Sony Music Entertainment India Private Limited, for the “unauthorised” usage of his compositions when the musician’s attorney made the motion, according to PTI.
The petitioner was instructed by the judge to enter a separate plea on the subject. The court set November 19 as the date of the case’s subsequent hearing. Agan (played by Pradeep) and Kural (played by Mamitha) are two young people who have known each other since they were little. When Kural asks Agan to marry him and unexpected family secrets are revealed, their lives take a drastic turn. Rohini and Sarathkumar are important characters in the movie.
