Dulquer Salmaan’s highly anticipated film Kaantha will no longer release on September 12 as initially planned. The makers issued a statement confirming that the release has been postponed, citing the extraordinary success of Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra as the reason behind the decision.
In their note, the team shared, “With the resounding success of Lokah, we want Chandra’s rampage at the box office to keep soaring. Hence, we’ve pushed the release date of Kaantha and will be announcing the new date soon.” They also thanked fans for their overwhelming support since the teaser launch and promised to deliver “something equally special” when the film eventually hits theatres.
Kaantha, written and directed by Selvaraj Selvamani, is a period drama starring Dulquer alongside Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri. The story revolves around a father-son relationship, with music composed by Jhanu Chanthar. Produced by Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films, the film has been one of the most awaited titles on Dulquer’s slate.
Meanwhile, Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra, produced by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films, continues its sensational run. Starring Kalyani Priyadarshan as India’s first female superhero, the film has crossed ₹200 crore worldwide in just 13 days since its August 28 release, drawing praise from stars including Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra.
