Eat like a local in Mussoorie: Best food to eat

Mussoorie has always been associated with endless mountains, spectacular cascades, and breathtaking views. The Queen of Hill Stations, perched at a height of around 6,170 feet, has always been one of our favourite vacation spots. This time, however, it came off as a foodie’s dream. To begin with, you should only be visible at the mall.

The well-known mall road brings the hills to life. Between the rush and bustle of shops, cafés, and swarms of tourists, finding unworldly tranquilly is unlike anything else. There is something for everyone’s taste buds, from street vendors selling the classic golden corn to authentic Tibetan restaurants and modern cafes.

Kalsang Friends Corner

It’s a two-story eatery with more tables than it can accommodate. To get in, you’ll need a lot of muscle. However, once inside, Kalsang will make you feel warm and welcome with its red printed wallpaper, Tibetan prayer flags, Chinese ceiling lamps, and red-uniformed staff. They offer a 10-page menu with Chinese, Tibetan, and Thai specialities – everything from dim sum to soups to fried noodles is to die for. The first thing we had was a dish of Steamed Chicken Momos, which had a thin, light, and easy-to-chew casing and a pleasantly flavorful and moist inside.

Cafe by the Way

We didn’t expect to see this on our must-see list, thus we consider it one of our valued discoveries. Cafe along the Way is artistic in a way that is approachable. The cafe has Polaroid cameras stacked on one side, huge leather couches on the other, scooter back seats as resting stools, and wrought iron and wooden furnishings in the middle. They serve a variety of coffees and shakes, most of which are priced under Rs.100. We tried the Oreo shake, which was rich, thick, and the ideal antidote to the cold. The blueberry smoothie and Irish cold coffee were both excellent.

Casa Mia Bakery

There’s no way you’ll miss this small and compact bakery if you go down mall road. The croissants, muffins, pies, and breads glisten in the front window, luring customers in. The costs are lower than the majority, and the quality is superior to the majority. We tried the fresh fruit cream and the Danish pastry, which were both excellent.
