Elon Musk reacts as Neuralink patient writes her name using only thoughts after 20 years

A woman who shared an incredible milestone on the internet—signing her name with just her thoughts for the first time in 20 years—attracted a lot of attention. Social media users are in awe at the discovery, which is attributed to Elon Musk’s business Neuralink.

Audrey Crews, a Neuralink recipient, shared a photo on X showing her handwritten signature displayed on a laptop screen. The caption read, “I tried writing my name for the first time in 20 years. I’m working on it. Lol #Neuralink.”

Replying her post, another X user wrote, “Neuralink recipient writes her name for the first time in 20 years telepathically.”

Reacting to that, Neuralink founder Elon Musk confirmed the achievement, adding, “She is controlling her computer just by thinking. Most people don’t realise this is possible.”

A recent Bloomberg article claims that Neuralink is working on a brain chip called Blindsight that could give blind people “superhuman vision” in addition to vision restoration. The corporation has big aspirations for the technology’s distribution, even though it has only been tested on monkeys thus far.

Additionally, according to Bloomberg, Neuralink plans to commercialize Blindsight by 2030. The company aims to sell three different kinds of brain implants and make over $1 billion a year by 2031.

Building devices that enable a bi-directional interaction with the brain is Neuralink’s primary goal, according to the company’s official description. Their goal is to “restore movement to the paralysed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionise how humans interact with their digital world.”
