Elon Musk has unveiled his new company, xAI, which has been created with an intention to understand reality. The Tesla founder and CEO took to his Twitter handle to announce his new venture. His tweet read, “Announcing formation of @xAI to understand reality.”
The new company is headed by Musk and includes team members who have worked at other big firms in AI such as OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, and DeepMind.
In addition to Musk, the website lists Igor Babuschkin, Manuel Kroiss, Christian Szegedy, Jimmy Ba, Yuhuai (Tony) Wu, Ross Nordeen, Guodong Zhang, Kyle Kosic, Toby Pohlen, Greg Yang, and Zihang Dai. The team at xAI is currently advised by Dan Hendrycks, a researcher who currently leads the Centre for AI Safety, which is non-profit organisation working towards reducing societal risks associated with AI.
As per the new website, the team will be hosting a Twitter space on July 14, wherein the listeners can make it interactive and put their questions in front.
Musk has always been related to AI as he co-founded OpenAI in 2015. However, he later walked away from it in 2018 to avoid any conflict with Tesla, which has also been doing a lot in the field. Since then he has been an open critic of OpenAI.
