Eminem’s team has issued a statement in response to the recent leak of unreleased tracks, emphasizing that these songs were never intended for public release. Over the past few weeks, several demo tracks and experimental songs from Eminem’s vault have surfaced online, including collaborations with 50 Cent and Dr. Dre, as well as a 2003 diss track reportedly targeting Suge Knight and Ja Rule.
The leaked material, which includes roughly 30 tracks, features other artists like Slaughterhouse, Anderson .Paak, and Nate Dogg. However, these tracks are described as unfinished, outdated studio demos, and not representative of Eminem’s current work. His spokesperson, Dennis Dennehy, addressed the issue with Billboard, calling the release of these songs an infringement on the artist’s control over his work. He argued that the public exposure of such material highlights the broader issue of artists losing control over their unreleased content.
One of the most talked-about tracks in the leak is “Smack You,” which allegedly targets Suge Knight, accusing him of involvement in the murders of Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. The controversial diss song includes a line where Eminem holds Suge Knight responsible for the deaths of the two legendary rappers.
While the source of the leak remains unidentified, the leaked tracks have sparked a considerable amount of buzz. Despite the attention, Eminem has yet to publicly address the situation, with his most recent official release being The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), which dropped in July 2024.
