The Emmy Awards have been postponed for 2023. The 75th annual ceremony, which was all set to be aired on September 18, has been postponed due to current WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. According to People, the Television Academy and FOX confirmed on Thursday that the event will air on January 15, 2024.
The official statement read, “As the Emmy Awards celebrates its 75th Anniversary, the show will broadcast live on FOX coast-to-coast from the Peacock Theater at LA Live and will honor the talented performers, writers, directors, and craftspeople whose work has entertained, inspired, and connected viewers across the globe throughout the past year.
According to People, the much-awaited ceremony will take place at 8 p.m. ET and will follow the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which will be held over two nights on January 6 and 7, 2024. On January 15, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET, an edited presentation of the event will be aired on FXX. Jesse Collins, who won an Emmy for outstanding variety special (live) during the 74th annual ceremony, will serve as executive producer this year, along with Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay of Jesse Collins Entertainment.
The news came shortly after MTV announced the nominees for the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. The previously set air date of September 12 at 8 p.m. ET remains the same.
